Here’s my annual collection of favourite outfits from this year’s Oscars.
Best Dressed Women

Jennifer Lawrence

Lupita Nyong’o

Oscar nominated Meryl Streep

Oscar nominated Greta Gerwig

Oscar nominee Mary J Blige

Oscar award winner (for best supporting female actor) Allison Janney. I think Allison looks absolutely stunning and it’s her outfit that is probably my favourite this year.

This dress might divide opinion, but I absolutely love this colour on Viola Davis. I think she looks glorious.

Oscar award nominee Sally Hawkins

Dame Helen Mirren

Whilst I’m not convinced by the shoes, I love the rest of Oscar nominee Dee Rees’s outfit. She was one of several women to go against convention and wear a suit rather than a dress.

Special mention for Rita Moreno who wore the same dress she wore when she won an Oscar back in 1962.
Best Dressed Males

British Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya

Armie Hammer

Oscar winner James Ivory
Best dressed couple

Mahershala Ali and Amathus Sami-Karim
Cutest Kid

Maisie Sly from the Oscar winning Best Short film The Silent Child
The What-the-Fuck-is-Going-On-Here Award

Haley Bennett. Great name, terrible dress.
That’s it folks! See you again same time, same place next year.
And don’t forget to tell me, which one outfit is your favourite outfit…
I love the dresses that Meryl Streep and Dame Helen Mirren wore. Stunning women.

They certainly both know how to dress with class. I wish I looked like them now let alone at their age.

James Ivory is the best because he was the only one that really did something out of the norm.

Yes I loved that. It must be so much harder for men to do something out of the norm for the red carpet too.

Instead of a regular bowtie, I would’ve gone with a long tie with a picture of the Oscar statuette on it
LikeLiked by 1 person
Haha yes! And you would have carried it off beautifully. You can wear it next year for when you pick up your award for sexiest man alive (a new catergory that they’ll create just for you).

I hadn’t seen any outfits from the Oscars yet so great timing! I think Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep are best dressed for me – gorgeous fit and colour of dresses.

Absolutely agree. They both look stunning and really know how to dress themselves.

I thought Taraji P. Henson was really lovely last night, very daring.

Yes very daring. She always looks lovely. Didn’t quite make my list this year though.

Dame Helen Mirren is perfection always.

Isn’t she just? If only I had half of her class, it would be a vast improvement.

I have to admit the pink is glorious on Viola. And I really loved Lupita’s dress. Helen Mirren is the total package–classy and gorgeous.

Oh I’m so glad you love Viola’s dress. It was a bold move and I think it absolutely worked. She looks amazing. Lupita always looks flawless and Helen is a class above everyone. I want to be her when I grow up.

Me too! We could both be her. We should have a Helen Mirren look alike party. I’d go to that.

I think you could do a better Dame Helen than me. Though, I could do the accent! 😃

Sooooo I’m a terrible person who forgot they were on (I’m pleading puppy distractions!)- some interesting looks there! Red is my favourite colour, so I am THRILLED that it was so prominent. I always love the classic pieces though, so I’m not a fan of J Lawrence’s gown. Dior is not my favourite house right now

Yes I love red too and don’t agree with the school of thought that says red shouldn’t be worn on the red carpet. It’s such a glamorous and flattering colour.

I never understood that philosophy myself. Why discard an entire colour?!

‘Great name, terrible dress’ made me giggle out loud!!
I didn’t watch them, but I love seeing all these outfits. 🙂

Haha.
I never watch them as they’re on far too late for me on a school night, but I love the dresses too!

J-Law looked stunning as usual. There weren’t any show-stopper outfits this year

I agree. All lovely, but nothing that stands out. J-Law is forever flawless.

Wow! Way to get this post done 🙂 I have to agree with you, Allison Janney’s dress was stunning and probably my favorite also. Great post, Hayley!

Wow! Such stunning people! I missed the Oscars as per usual, because I usually can’t get into the movies that are nominated. But, this year there were some good ones! Dang it!

I’ve missed so many of the Oscar films this year, which is so unlike me as I usually watch most of them before the Oscars. Though it’s a bit harder for us Brits as all the Oscar films are only released about 2 weeks before the actual Oscars over here! Sky Movies it will have to be for me 👍🏻

I only saw one Oscar nominated film and in my opinion, it should have won them all-The Greatest Showman!! TRULY the greatest movie I’ve ever watched!!

I think if you took Allison’s dress and made it the same color as Helen’s, it would be my favorite. Also, total props to Rita!

I can totally imagine that would be your perfect dress & that it would really suit you. Yeah- go Rita! X

OMG! I got in here to say Allison Janney was THE most fabulous looking and you have the same opinion! Tall women! And that “Worst dressed”.. LOL.

We have the same taste! I would love to be that tall & graceful. Instead I’ll have to plump with “short & clumsy” 😄

LOL. So likewise. Short and clumsy. And plump.

I love a graceful white gown, so my fav would have to be Mary J. Xx

Armie Hammer’s suit is one of my favorites from the night. It’s mostly because of how different it is from black & white suits that most men wear. I prefer suits for men that are different. I would love hear what you think about a post I wrote about cool suits from the Oscars

Ok, my favorite is Allison Janey’s for sure! It screams Hollywood to me. I also like the classic look of Helen Mirren. I like Viola’s dress too but I’m a sucker for pink. Now, with regards to Sally Hawkins, I’ve never heard of her but I have a few comments, solely based on this picture. The girl needs a cheeseburger. Get the girl a cheeseburger before she passes out from hunger! And I like the dress but it looks like the dress is wearing her. Lastly, she looks like she just rolled out of bed. Picture her wearing a white tshirt and a jeans. You totally could b/c of that hair. Wow…I just sounded like a real internet troll here or a wanna be fashion police. Ok, I’ll shut up now! LOL!

Haha I love Sally Hawkins. She’s a fantastic actor, but yeah I just don’t think she’s really into the whole Hollywood glamour thing. It’s a beautiful dress anyway. And you’re right- Alison’s dress is SO wonderfully Hollywood. Oh and I’m a sucker for pink too 💗

I’ll be in Hollywood in 4 weeks. Look for many, many humorous posts. I wrote one that will be out tomorrow on my anxiety of visiting LA and how I feel like the hunch back of Notre Dame.
